BA (Hons) Insurance

The BA (Hons) in Insurance is an exciting new degree programme that offers students the opportunity to gain employment within the insurance sector whilst studying for a degree. Successful applicants will gain employment with Be Wiser Insurance (Andover) with a starting salary of £18,000. You will attend college one day a week to study and on successful completion of the course, you will be eligible for a bonus from Be Wiser to help pay off your student loan. Please note that the tuition fee for this course is £4,500 per year (3 year course). Concessionary fee rates of £3,000pa may be available to those joining us via Be Wiser, depending on student numbers.

In general, salaries for trainee brokers without a degree start at around £16,000. Graduates on training schemes may start on a salary between £22,000 and £26,000. Typical salaries for qualified brokers with experience range from £40,000 to in excess of £80,000 (not including additional benefits and bonuses). Course attendance: students will work full-time with Be Wiser Ltd in Andover (shift patterns may vary). Attendance at college is one full day a week on a day release basis.

Staff Profile: Alex Day

Alex has a first degree in Economics from the University of Reading, and a Master's Degree in Advanced Professional Practice in Education from Portsmouth University. She is a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy as well as a QAA (Quality Assurance Agency) Reviewer which means she can review higher education in much the same way as an Ofsted Inspector reviews schools. Alex has been the driving force behind the development of the work of the Adult & Higher Education Division and in particular the College's higher education programmes where she leads the writing, validation and implementation of all our degree programmes.  As Director of Adult & Higher Education, she has responsibility for all of the work the division engages in and received an MBE for Services to Education in the 2014 New Year's Honours list.

Siggi started working for AHEd (teaching German) in 1999 and has since added Teacher training, Counselling, Perspectives of Management and several bespoke workshops (Creative Visualisation, Inner Child workshops, Bringing out the best in people, etc).

Siggi studied Economics and Computer Science (1985) in Germany and became an accredited counsellor in 2003. She achieved her PGCE in 2007, the full AssessorA1 Award in 2012 and QTLS in 2014.
